Milolii Beach Lot Neighborhood Watch News        January17, 2008

On Sept. 27, 2007, eight households met for the first time with Sgt. Crusat, the South Kona Community Policing Officer supervising our Watch group, who told us how to start our own Neighborhood Watch.  Watch Resident Survey forms needed to be completed by each household willing to participate. One of the original eight households volunteered to be the Watch Coordinator to serve as the liaison between Sgt. Crusat and our group.  By Nov. 20, 2007, thirteen households completed and returned Survey forms to the Watch Coordinator who supplied copies to Sgt. Crusat making us officially recognized as "The Milolii Beach Lot Neighborhood Watch".  Our membership has grown to fifteen households lookingout for our community from Kai Ave. to the top of Milolii Rd. where it meets Hwy 11.  Thank you all for joining together in a cooperative effort with law enforcement to better our community.

In October members of our still unofficial Watch group helped police establish a vialbe search area for a suspect wanted for multiple offences who was trying to hide in our neighborhood.  Because of those searches the suspect turned himself into the police the next day and is still in jail.  He is no longer causing trouble in our community.  Thank you neighbors for a good job.

Vigilant Watch members continue to report suspicious activities and dangerous incidents they witness.  In addition the Neighborhood Watch Coordinator weekly reports to Sgt. Crusat the issues and/or suspicious activities brought by members.  This is done so that enough evidence is compiled in a central record allowing the local police departments, which we all know are terribly undermanned, to call upon the State Atterney General's Office's Nuisance Abatement Department for extra help to eliminate problems according to Sgt. Crusat.

To join us a Neighborhood Watch Survey form needs to be completed and returned to the Coodinator.  Notice no member names are used on this website.  You may remain as anonymous as you wish.  Ask you neighbor for a form.
